Beth Costello
Swimming Coach

I started coaching with my local triathlon club after joining them as a complete beginner triathlete and total beginner swimmer - it was my way of giving something back and after years of working in a HR/Learning and Development environment, realised that coaching triathlon was way more fun and rewarding.
I've since gone on to attain my Level 3 Coaching for Triathlon qualification along with a Certificate in Sports Psychology and now find myself coaching triathlon clubs, swim squads and groups, training camps and holidays, one to one and most recently the South Central British Triathlon Academy. I also run my own sports massage business so between triathlon and therapy I get to see a wide range of athletes from all sports, from complete beginners to junior elites, both on and off the couch.

I coach swimmers and triathletes of all abilities whether you're learn to swim, beginner, age grouper or regional/national level. I can help you overcome fears, increase your speed and perfect your freestyle technique and efficiency. I help you understand what you need to work on and why, using expert video analysis and stroke correction, pictures, succinct explanations and jovial gestures! I like to create a warm, open coaching environment.
While studying Sports and Exercise Science at Oxford Brookes University I ran the Oxford University adult beginner and improver swimming programme. I trained as a Triathlon Coach during this time and spent a few years helping Oxford Tri Club where my passion for open water coaching developed. I have helped to develop national British Triathlon Coach Education; development of the new ASA Level 2 Open Water Swimming Coaching qualification and designing and writing content for online resources for Swim Smooth.
You'll find me regularly contributing to the online articles for 220 Triathlon Magazine, including Mistakes Triathletes Make in Swimming Training and Open Water.
I have a young family and fit coaching around my family life. I enjoy the outdoors, dog walks, running, yoga and of course swimming! I have a passionate interest in Health Psychology & Nutrition.
